U8–U16 Ground Marshals
Duties and Responsibilities
- There must be a Ground Marshal for every game. The Ground Marshal is to be nominated from the home team/s playing on a field for any particular game. Where two games are being played on a field at the same time, a marshal is required from each team. Marshals hi-viz vests are found in the referees room next to The Bakeologists. The key to the ref's room is in the lock box on the wall next to the door. Contact a member of the Junior Committee to obtain the code. The vests should be retrieved from the ref's room by the marshals for the first games and then handed over to the teams that are playing after yours.
- Make yourself known to the referees and assist them with anything they might need. Ensure that coaches, managers, and spectators do not discuss the game with the referees for any reason. If they have concerns, they must only speak to the Ground Marshal who can choose whether any further action is required. Keep in mind that the referees are often young players from the club and need our full support.
- Whilst carrying out the duties as a Ground Marshal you must ensure that all spectators are well behaved and observe the code of conduct. Please avoid the use of derogatory language and be consistent, objective, and courteous in dealing with any unruliness. Please ensure that you report any incidents to a member of the Junior Committee.
- Where safety zones or technical areas are marked, please ensure that only coaches and players are in this zone at any time. This is for the safety of the players.
- Also ensure that people aren't pushing prams or bikes across playing surfaces.
- When two games are on at the same time on Field 3, ensure that only coaches and players are standing in the area between the two fields. Other spectators should be a minimum of two metres from the edges of playing areas while matches are in progress.
- The Ground Marshal will be responsible for helping to put the goals back up against the fence, coordinating a cleanup of the pitch areas, and returning the marshal's vests to the ref's room once the last game is finished. You can check whether you are the last game for the day by looking at the fixtures listed on the home page.
