Capital 2 v Park Ridge match report

By Juniors Editor on

A makeshift men's Capital 2 side fought courageously in a tough away game at Park Ridge but lost agonisingly to a late goal.

Having conceded 25 goals in their last five games, the side made up of a number of reserve regulars who gave 100% for the team, and only the crossbar and some great saves stopped us taking the lead and getting something out of the game.

We have been dragged into a six-team relegation battle and with only five games to go, starting with a home game against promotion hopefuls Oxley next Saturday, Paul and the boys are hopeful they can secure enough points to ensure our safety.

The reserves with a number of City and under 18s helping out, had a fine 2-1 win to go back top of the table. Two cracking goals from Jimmy Ball, including a sublime 20 metre chip for the winner, showed our depth and hopes for our young players coming through will ensure the club's future is in safe hands.
