You may already be aware, but following an action by Football Queensland (FQ) earlier this week to redraw the boundaries of the Football Brisbane (FB) zone into two different zones (Metro North and Metro South) and effectively cancel Football Brisbane's membership of FQ with immediate effect, FB announced yesterday evening that it had no choice but to postpone all FB related football activities (both training and games) due to concerns around insurance. Hot on the heels of that announcement, FQ made a counter announcement to assure all clubs that as all clubs are affiliated with Football Australia and all participants registered to Football Australia through FQ, everyone involved would continue to be covered under the National Insurance scheme (Continuation of Brisbane football activity - Football Queensland) and therefore all training and games could continue.
As such, whilst this is a developing situation that is completely out of the control of the club, as things stand it is the club's position that all training activities can continue as planned. Whilst the position is currently a little less clear in regard to FB competition games, we are hopeful that FQ and FB will be able to come to an agreement over the next day or so to ensure that games can continue for the rest of this season and we will keep you updated on this matter as soon as we hear anything further. Also, just to be clear, the NPL program should be unaffected.
This situation is quite unprecedented and we don't have any further information at this time but we will keep you all updated as soon as we hear anything. Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated.
