NPL 2018 player update: All-American Abbott on board

By Juniors Editor on

Kim Abbott's football career started as a five year old in the USA, and culminated in many seasons in the American collegiate football competition playing for St Edward's University in Austin, Texas.

A versatile player, comfortable in attacking and defending positions, in 2009 Kim was named in the All-Region freshmen and sophomore first teams. In 2006 and 2007 Kim was named in the All-American Defender first team and was also awarded Conference Player of the Year. After a short season playing for Vasalunds, in Stockholm, Sweden and another for the Houston Aces in the Women's Premier Soccer League in the USA, we are very pleased to announce that Kim has now signed up to continue her football career with The Gap Football Club's Women’s' NPL team in season 2018.

"I started training with The Gap when I first moved to Brisbane and could tell immediately that The Gap is a competitive club with a lot of talented players who are fun to play with. I soon knew that I wanted to play with them. After a couple years away from competitive soccer, I am excited to play alongside such high quality, creative players, who will surely elevate my game. I am excited to learn the team's style of play and to contribute to a successful season."

Coach Rob Askew said, “Kim is an absolutely fantastic signing and will more than capably fill the void left by Cath O’Neil’s retirement.”

Welcome Kim.
